WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The gospel is good news—the good news of what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16). The Bible tells us that mankind has rebelled against God, and therefore all of humanity are under His judgment (John 3:36). But eventhough God stands over against us in judgment because of our sin, because of Hid love has made a way for mankind to be forgiven and reconciled to Him through Jesus. God sent Jesus to die on the cross 2,000 years ago so that he could take our sins upon Hismelf turning aside God’s judgment, God’s wrath, from us, and ultimately cancelling the power of sin. It is when we repent of our sin, and receive Him by faith, that we are forgiven and adopted as children of God (John 1:12). The result of this adoption is a new life in Christ with purpose, redemption, hope, joy, and an abundant life (2 Cor 5:17). The gospel truly is good news—the good news of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ.
